Welcome to New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 1 Foundation (NZCEL Level 1F)

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 1 Foundation is a practical course that aims to develop students’ ability to communicate in very basic, familiar situations. This will allow students to begin to participate in an English language environment. By the end of the course, graduates will understand spoken language for the most common everyday conversations and be able to participate in simple conversations about familiar, and personal topics. They will also learn to write sentences, give personal information and understand familiar written words and phrases in common, everyday situations. This programme is worth 60 credits and involves a total of 600 hours of class time and self-study.

  • Participate in basic, everyday conversations on familiar topics and in areas of immediate need.
