Course Fees

  • You must pay all fees before the beginning of the course.
  • You cannot transfer fees to any other institution or student.
  • Fees are calculated in complete weeks. Study for part of a week is counted as a full week. The Institute is closed on public holidays, which are counted as part of your course and no compensation is provided.
  • The Institute reserves the right to adjust fees due to factors such as changes in government policy, etc.

Resource Fees
WIE require all students to pay a resource fee to cover additional resource expenses. The Resource fee will be charged according to the number of blocks a student enrols for, payable on invoice.

Rules and Regulations
You are expected to observe WIE's rules and regulations and to obey New Zealand laws while you are a student at WIE.

·   Waikato Institute of Education reserves the right to dismiss students who break New Zealand laws or Institute rules. We will not refund fees in the case of dismissal.

·   Immigration require 100% attendance for all classes. You are expected to comply with the conditions of your visa while you are in New Zealand.

Homestay

If you have requested WIE to arrange homestay for you, full payment must be paid at least 14 days before the start of your course.

·   Inform WIE of your arrival details so we can arrange your homestay. If you arrive without giving 14 days notice we cannot guarantee homestay accommodation but can help you find different accommodation, i.e. motel, backpackers, at your own expense, until a homestay becomes available.

·    The initial homestay period is for a minimum of four weeks, however we recommend students stay in homestay for the period of your study as it helps you improve your English much faster. It also allows you to adapt to New Zealand life and to improve your English in an English speaking home.

·    You must give at least TWO weeks notice if you plan to move out of your homestay.  In this case, unused homestay fees will be refunded.

·   All host families arranged by WIE have been assessed under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students to ensure the home is a suitable environment for international students and the family is friendly and welcoming.

Holidays:

If you want to take a holiday during your course you must tell WIE at least TWO weeks in advance. Depending on your visa, your course may not be extended.

Liability:

·   All international students much have sufficient medical, life, property and fee protection insurance before arriving in New Zealand. We can arrange this insurance for you if you choose this option on the application form.

·   WIE will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury to you or your property while at the institute, on a Institute trip or activity, or with a homestay family except where this liability is imposed by the laws of New Zealand..

·   WIE cannot be held responsible for any closure due to circumstances beyond our control. In such cases we are unable to offer any refund.
